Uprising Welcomes Trinidadian Powerhouse Leon Whyle!

We are delighted to announce the signing of the 29-year-old Trinidadian player, Leon Whyle. Leon can play in the central midfield position or as a CDM and at Centre Back. Born at Mt Hope Hospital, not too far from the town of San Juan in Trinidad, Leon joins us having previously played for Harlem Strikers who compete in the second highest level of football in Trinidad. As well as Harlem Strikers, Leon has also previously played for the fellow Trinidadian clubs Eagles FC, Joe Public FC, Central FC, San Juan Jabloteh, and Prisons FC.

After his signing was confirmed, we caught up with Leon and asked him a few questions, the first one being if he could tell us what the deciding factor was in him wanting to join our club:

“One of the main reasons was to come and help my friend and Trini brother ‘Rosco’ (Joel Orosco) and Tre Gumbs in trying to help Uprising to achieve a higher position than last year or even go as far as winning the tournament! The other factor is to try and help some talented young players in my country and give them exposure to maybe playing in Anguilla in the future.”

Leon describes himself as a very disciplined and hardworking player who communicates well with his teammates according to the situation. In addition, he is a very fit player and strong when in possession of the ball, has good feet and is strong in the air!

We can’t wait to see Leon in action for us and we are sure our fans who are reading this will echo our thoughts! Finally, we asked Leon what he would like to achieve during the remainder of this season:

“Similar to my first answer, I want to help the club to achieve a high as finish as possible, but winning the tournament would be the ideal goal!”

Leon, we love the sound of this! Welcome to the Uprising Family!
